Abandon Ship’s new trailer releases the Kraken and the cult that worships it
21 Jul, 2017
While you’re managing your own ship and crew in Abandon Ship, you’ll also have to deal with a doomsday cult and the monsters it worships. Here’s a lookie.
Abandon Ship has a new trailer, and this one focuses on an element of the game that previous reveals of the game have been coy about: the sea monsters. Apart from dealing with other unfriendly ships, it seems that you’ll also have to contend with nefarious denizens of the deep, defeating whom will take special techniques.
That’s not all, though. A new faction is rising in the world of Abandon Ship, and this one is a cult that happens to worship said sea monsters, possibly under the age-old logic of ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’. Will you, brave captain, be able to beat them? Well, given that this game is a brutal roguelike with permanent death, maaaybe not on your first try. But eventually, I’m sure you can do it, buckeroo!
Of course, even if you do deal with the cult, there remains the small matter of a big Kraken who’s out to tear a few conspicuous holes in your ship. Not a good look, that.
Here’s a look at the trailer:
The game is being developed at Fireblade Software, a team of industry veterans based in Guildford, UK and composed of the likes of Gary Burchell, who worked on Assassin’s Creed Chronicles and Mark Angus, who handled the audio direction of Alien: Isolation.

Abandon Ship is expected to release sometime later this year, exclusively for PC via Steam.
Want a similar game where you can sail the open seas on your own custom-made ship while being on the lookout for giant sea monsters? The Last Leviathan beckons ye. Oh, so you’d rather be managing a Lovecraftian doomsday cult yourself? You can do that in The Shrouded Isle.
