Akita: King Pig Thinks Pink – Hand-drawn metroidvania now on Kickstarter

Akita: King Pig Thinks Pink is a cute metroidvania adventure with cute, hand-drawn animations and local co-op, and it’s on Kickstarter now.

Gelen Marchamalo, Producer at Karuma Games, tells us more about the studio’s upcoming metroidvania game, Akita: King Pig Thinks Pink, which is seeking funds on Kickstarter right now. 5 days remain for the Kickstarter to end, so here’s why you should check it out.

What will you find in our game?

You will explore a fantasy world full of secrets and enchanting creatures, fight monsters and solve puzzles. You will have the help of different allied characters with unique abilities, and you will also be able to equip yourself with items, powers and weapons.

How does the adventure begin?

Strange things are happening in Fansia. An enveloping mischievous pink gas is turning everyone who breathes it into a monster, the kind that does not hesitate to attack the most defenseless. The fearsome King Pig is the one behind all this, sending his minions throughout the kingdom to transform its inhabitants into monsters!

You will join our heroes, Akita and Lucy, as they face a myriad of difficulties and dangers, and you will discover the reason behind these transformations.

Luckily, in this adventure they won’t be alone.

Throughout the game you will be able to get allied characters, which unlock special abilities that you can summon at any time you need them, such as exploring inaccessible areas, collecting objects, opening doors, and even seeing invisible areas; and many more abilities through characters that will help you in your adventure.

Explore a fantasy world full of secrets and enchanting creatures

To get to the castle where the bad guy King Pig is, and confront him, you will go through the most hidden and unknown places of Fansia.

You will go through villages inhabited by amazing creatures, ancient temples, you will enter ghostly caves, dark undergrounds and spooky swamps. You’ll ascend to incredible cities in the sky, advance through forests of gigantic trees, explore lands that only existed many years ago, reach inaccessible frozen places and even descend to the depths of a volcano.

Fight monsters and solve puzzles

You will find a wide and diverse line-up of over 50 enemies, from harmless adversaries to the more ferocious ones.

To advance in the game you will have to solve puzzles and buy items and weapons. Although the game is more focused on adventure, our game will not be lacking in confrontations against enemies of different strengths and difficulties.

What do we want you to know about our game?

Akita is a game dreamed up to have enjoyable gameplay, and it’s being developed with a lot of love.

Our game mixes adventure, neat animations and hand-drawn scenarios, and also touches of humor. As it can be played with 2 players we think it is perfect to play with a friend or family member. Furthermore, it’s all without a single text as it’s all just icons and animations!

At what point of development is our game?

We are currently seeking funding on Kickstarter and our campaign ends on October 7. Our game will have versions for PC and Nintendo Switch, although we do not rule out other consoles.

We encourage you to take a look at the project here and our rewards (you will find from NPC or enemy design, to guides and exclusive houses).

We would be thrilled to have you on this journey with us and excited to bring our game into the world! We need more people to know about our project. Help us get the word out!

We would love to be able to develop the game and have gamers love it as much as we do.

You can check out our official website for more information. Lastly, we thank you for all the feedback!
