Dino survival game ARK: Survival Evolved now releasing in late August

ARK: Survival Evolved, one of the poster children of Steam’s survival game revolution, is now prepared to launch—a little later than expected.

Studio Wildcard has finally achieved gold master on its popular dinosaur-infused survival game, ARK: Survival Evolved. The game was originally slated to release on 8th August, but due to delays in certification, the game will now release on 29th August. That shouldn’t be too far for fans who have been following the game’s development since its Early Access release back in June 2015.

The developer has announced via a blog post that updates for the game are already in the works. One of the earliest post-launch focuses for the team will be improved performance for the Steam version of the game. Performance improvements will also make their way to consoles over time.

If you’ve been out of the survival game loop (I don’t blame you), ARK: Survival Evolved is a game about riding dinosaurs into glorious combat. Well, there’s a lot more to it than that, such as hunting, farming, researching stuff and learning how to survive. But mostly it’s about dinosaurs. That you can ride. The game features both singleplayer and multiplayer modes. On Steam, there’s even a battle royale spin-off titled ARK: Survival of the Fittest.

ARK: Survival Evolved releases on 29th August for Steam (PC, Mac, Linux), PS4 and Xbox One. As prominently featured on the official website, the game will also be getting a Collector’s Edition and an Explorer’s Edition, each one coming loaded with goodies. There’s even a necklace.

For a colder kind of survival, check out another The Long Dark, which has also been in Early Access for a while and is finally approaching full release. If you’d prefer to waltz around an island befriending critters, you should have a look at Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles.
