Control a hole in Donut County; now also releasing on PS4 in 2018

Sure you’ve played games in which you played an a-hole, but have you played a game in which you were *a* hole? Donut County lets you do just that.

The first thing you need to know about Donut County is that it originated from a game jam based on bizarre game concepts from the Twitter parody account Peter Molydeux. Here’s the tweet in question:

You play a hole, you must move around an environment making certain elements fall into correct targets at the right time.

Brave developer Ben Esposito of Los Angeles went ahead and decided to make a game out of that concept, and it’s evolved into a full-fledged thing that is being published by indie label Annapurna Interactive (which has published What Remains of Edith Finch and is publishing Gorogoa, Wattam, Ashen and Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition).

As announced at PlayStation Experience earlier today, the game is now also releasing on PlayStation 4, alongside the previously-announced platforms PC, Mac, and iOS. There’s no release date at the moment, but according to the developer, it’s coming out sometime in 2018.

Here’s what it’s about, straight from the Steam page:

Donut County is a physics adventure game where you control a hole in the ground. Every time you swallow something, the hole grows a little bit bigger.

You play as a raccoon named BK, a new hire at a startup that uses remote-controlled holes to steal people’s trash – along with everything else. When BK falls into a hole himself, he must answer to his best friend Mira and the residents of Donut County who are now stuck 999 feet below their homes.

It’s absurd and homely at once, somehow, and looks like a pleasant enough time in which you wreak havoc in a most bizarre manner.
