E3 2018: Overcooked! 2 announced, will be ready to serve in August

Ghost Town Games and Team17 have announced Overcooked! 2, which is coming out quite soon. Expect it on PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, Xbox One and Switch.

Following up on the viral success of the original, Overcooked! 2 was announced at the E3 2018 Nintendo Direct yesterday. Much like the original game, it has you cooking up a storm to save the world once more. This time around, you’ll have to contend with the Unbread. Spooky, and delicious.

So what’s new? You’ll get a brand new overworld map to explore, new dynamic kitchens to run around in; new recipes that include pizzas, burgers, cakes, and sushi; and new chefs. Do you want to make sushi as an alligator? Overcooked! 2 has you covered.

One notable feature that’s made it into the sequel is online multiplayer. The original only offered local multiplayer gameplay, but Overcooked! will finally let you connect across the internet tubes to cook with your friends from across the globe.

The game is already available for pre-order. Doing so will grant you the “Too Many Cooks” pack, which includes the following extra cooks: Alien, Walrus, Unicorn, Monkey and Calico Cat.

Like the original game, Overcooked! 2 is being cooked by British studio Ghost Town Games, and served by Team17. If the Steam page is any indication, it seems that Team17 is lending development assistance as well.

Overcooked! 2 is scheduled to release on 7th August 2018. It will release simultaneously across PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, PS4, and Switch. There is no official website for the game yet, surprisingly enough. They might update the official blog, though.
