Ask Indies: What Is A Special Moment As An Indie Dev?

It’s been a little while but we are getting back to our Ask Indies initiative, where we ask indie Devs to comment on topic, trends and the big questions around indie games. Getting back to it on a positive note, we recently asked: What is a special moment as an indie dev?

The Ask Indies series is a great chance to get the answers straight from the experts on indie games. It’s also an opportunity for indie devs to update the community on their projects and progress.

If you are interested in putting a question to the community then make sure to leave a comment, we’d be happy to put it to the devs. If you’d like to join our community of devs to answer Ask Indies in the future, drop us a line.

So let’s put it to the guys who will know: What is a special moment as an indie dev?

Beyond The Oaks

JAY CAMERON, GAME DIRECTOR, DRAGONFLY GAMES. CURRENTLY WORKING ON: BEYOND THE OAKS

“During in-person play testing, seeing someone’s genuine reaction to playing my game, or being excited about a specific mechanic/asset/cutscene that may have taken years to develop!”

EIDOLON

JULIA NOLAN, DEVELOPER, INTEGRAL STUDIOS, CURRENTLY WORKING ON EIDOLON

“Launching a new game of course! Or getting a positive review. Or figuring out how to solve a really tricky coding problem that I’d been stuck on, All of the above!”

Heroes

“The most special thing is to get feedback on my games 🙂 and watch the downloads everyday haha.”

GRID FORCE
NICOLA STRINA, PRODUCER, DREAMNAUTS STUDIOS, CURRENTLY WORKING ON: GRID FORCE – MASK OF THE GODDESS
“Pressing the “release” button. That happened to us just a week ago and honestly, it was the most terrifying and exciting thing we have ever done! Grid Force is out now on Steam and we couldn’t be happier!”
HARRY COLE, EDITOR, INTO INDIE GAMES. CURRENTLY WORKING ON: FINDING THE BEST INDIE GAMES FOR OUR FANS.
“I’ve never worked as a developer myself so I can only guess at what a truly special moment is for an indie dev. I imagine getting a good review or a nice comment about your game, or finding a publisher that’s going to back you and believes in what you are doing, are special moments. What we try to do at Into Indie Games is give indies a bit of the spotlight, and I am sure that’s a special feeling too.”
