Best Indie Games Of February 2026

Indie games are standing out more, mainly because of how well they dominated last year. Indie games not only dominated in terms of sales, but they also dominated most of the award shows. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, one game in particular, stood out the most and ended up winning the most prestigious award in 2025.

So, if you are someone who is excited to try out more indie games in 2026, this is the right place for you. I have already curated a list of the best indie games released in January, so now I will make a personal favorite list of the best indie games released in February 2026.

Disclaimer

This is not a ranking of the games mentioned below. I am not ranking them in any order, as this is simply a list of indie and other games that I believe are the best ones released in February 2026. You may have already played some of the games on this list, but that is most likely not the case for everyone. Due to that, the list is completely based on my own experience and knowledge of the indie games released in February.

Crisol: Theater Of Idols

Crisol is among the best indie games released in February 2026.

Before you say Crisol: Theater of Idols is not an indie game, hear me out. I know this game is published by Blumhouse Games, which is a known publisher to some, but the scope and budget of this game make it an indie. This publisher collaborates with indie studios to bring unique horror games like Crisol: Theater of Idols to the community.

It is a first-person survival horror game, full of action, and one of the best indie games I have played in February 2026. If you are someone who fancies a gothic and eerie atmosphere, then this game is for you. The combat mechanics of this game are quite solid as you fight with your own blood. As it is a survival horror, using your blood to fight makes it even better.

The game has also seen comparisons with the likes of BioShock, Resident Evil, and Blasphemous. So, if you are looking to play a survival horror, I would recommend this. You can find the complete walkthrough of this game here.

Mewgenics

The next game on the list is Mewgenics, and it may not be for everyone. The main reason why it is not for everyone is that it is a roguelike and turn-based game, on top of that. However, if you like a game with deep gameplay mechanics featuring over a thousand abilities and nearly a thousand items, along with over 200 enemies and bosses, you are going to love it.

I think this game blends dark humor and absurdity almost perfectly. The gameplay system and the tactical depth amazed me, along with the world-building. I do not recommend this game to everyone, but those who like deep mechanics and dark humor should give it a go.

It has a solid 90 score on Metacritic, which already makes it one of the most critically acclaimed games of 2026. So, if you want to start it, make sure to check out our complete walkthrough.

Hermit And Pig

Among other solid indie games released in February 2026 is Hermit and Pig. It is a turn-based adventure RPG developed and published by Heavy Lunch Studios. This game focuses on exploration, resource management, and story-driven interactions.

The game does feature turn-based combat, but it includes timed input mechanics. So, if you time the inputs correctly, you will be rewarded. Otherwise, there can be some negative effects. The pixelated art makes this game much, much better, at least for me, as I like pixelated art in such games a lot.

So, if it is something that makes you curious, I recommend giving it a go.

Tearscape

Tearscape is one of the best indie games of February 2026

Tearscape is a 2D top-down action adventure RPG title developed and published by Nerds Take Over, an indie studio, of course. The game is heavily inspired by the Dark Souls franchise, so yes, if you like button-mashing, do not even think about playing this game.

This game punishes mashers and emphasizes stamina management along with precise dodging of the enemy’s attacks. As the game is inspired by the Dark Souls franchise, you can expect hidden shortcuts. The level design is actually impressive, as the world is interconnected.

So, if you want to play a challenging 2D game set in an eerie setting, I strongly recommend Tearscape.

Best Non-Indie Releases

There were many great indie game releases in February, but there are some AAA games that I would like to recommend to you guys.

Reanimal

The first one is going to be Reanimal, as I just love all of the games from this studio. I do agree that Little Nightmares 3 was quite underwhelming, mainly because of how little content it featured. Reanimal is not that long either, but it offers a more fun overall experience, in my opinion.

The fandom also liked it much more, as the reviews speak for themselves. Some fans have even claimed that it is the real Little Nightmares 3. The story, gameplay mechanics, visuals, and graphics everything is close to perfection. If you have liked the previous games from this studio, then I strongly recommend giving Reanimal a go.

Norse: Oath Of Blood

The Woodcarver's Chisel, No Lamb For The Lazy Wolf, and Tides of War featured Norse Oath of Blood

If you are a fan of tactical RPGs, then this is the game for you. Set in the medieval era, this game delivers the vibe of that era, along with the jokes and rituals. You have to use your mind to win some battles, and that can be exhausting, especially if you are playing on the hardest difficulty.

The optimization is not perfect, but still, I think this game has a lot of potential. It does not cost that much and offers a pretty solid experience. You even have to build a settlement from scratch. So, it is not just about the combat; there are some base-building mechanics too, though quite different from what you might be expecting.

If you plan on playing it, head over to its walkthrough hub for assistance.

Yakuza Dark Ties

Yakuza Dark Ties DLC Featured

I am with those who hate Yakuza Kiwami 3, as RGG butchered the ending. Mine’s survival did not make sense to me, along with the majority of the fandom. However, the DLC Dark Ties is a work of art. I absolutely enjoyed every second of it, as the combat mechanics of Mine are quite different and challenging to master.

Even playing on the normal difficulty setting would be challenging. That said, it would not be justified to buy the whole game to play the DLC. Check out the complete walkthrough here.

Resident Evil Requiem

Leon in Resident Evil Requiem

The best and most anticipated game of February 2026, for me, is arguably Resident Evil Requiem. I absolutely love this game, and if you are a fan of the Resident Evil franchise, you should 100 percent give it a shot. The gameplay duration is not more than 10 hours, but still, the experience it delivers makes it worth every penny of the price tag.

If you like Resident Evil 2, 4, and 7, without a second thought, play this game, and you will be amazed.
