Indie games are often neglected because they are usually overshadowed by massive AAA releases. However, that changed significantly last year, mainly due to the strong dominance and rising popularity of indie games. As a result, indie titles are now much more on other people’s radar.
As people are increasingly looking for indie games, here I will tell you about some of the best indie games released in June 2026. This month had many notable releases, so I will go over the ones that you should definitely look out for.

This is not a ranking of the games mentioned below. I am not ranking them in any order, as this is simply a list of games that I believe are the best ones released in June. You may have already played some of the games on this list, but that is most likely not the case for everyone. Due to that, the list is completely based on my own experience and knowledge of the indie games released in June 2026.

BrokenLore: Follow
BrokenLore: Follow serves as a prequel to the previously released Unfollow. It is a first-person psychological horror game that features the story of Anne’s past. In this game, you play as Anne, who is forced to relive traumatic memories.
Now, this is not like your average horror game. Instead of telling a straightforward horror story, the game explores themes such as bullying, body dysmorphia, eating disorders, self-worth, and mother-daughter relationships. This is a fairly complex game to understand, which actually makes it worth trying, as figuring out what is happening as you progress creates a very engaging experience.
As you play the game, you will encounter monsters that are symbolic representations of Anne’s trauma. Also note that as this is a psychological horror game, there is no traditional combat gameplay except hiding or escaping from creatures.

Cursemark
Usually, I avoid suggesting Early Access games because it is often better to wait for the 1.0 release. However, that is not the case with Cursemark. It is arguably one of the best Early Access games I have played, and its reception is also very positive.
There are tons of items that you can obtain that completely change your build. You can choose the weapon of your choice at the beginning of the game, but of course you will need to unlock most of them as you progress. Still, choosing a weapon and then building your character throughout the game, without fully knowing how it will turn out or how strong it will become, is a very fun experience.
The game’s pixelated art style is also one of its strongest points. If you, like myself, enjoy pixel art visuals, then this game is a must-try for you. It reminded me a lot of Kingdom of Night, one of the best indie RPGs I have played. That said, do note that this is a roguelike, so if you get frustrated with this genre, I would suggest not picking it up.

Crushed In Time
If you are a fan of classic interactive storytelling combined with humorous puzzle-solving mechanics, then Crushed In Time is a perfect game for you. In this game, you join Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson in a bizarre case. The mechanics are quite fun, as you do not interact with the environment in a traditional way. Instead, you stretch and manipulate objects, which creates a fun experience.
This game is actually worth trying because it constantly breaks the fourth wall as it shifts between different versions of the game. As you are playing, it may feel like the game is being debugged or rewritten in real time. There is less emphasis on action and more focus on comedy, clever writing, and puzzles.

Deer and Boy
Deer and Boy is a cinematic narrative adventure game that focuses on the emotional journey between a young boy and a deer. The game features storytelling and symbolism rather than traditional gameplay. The atmosphere also plays a major role in shaping the experience.
The deer is not just a companion to the boy in this game. Instead, it is a symbolic presence tied to the emotional development of the boy. Also note that the story is heavily dependent on visuals and mood, rather than being told through dialogue.

Lumina Veil is a first-person psychological horror game where you play as a streamer. The streamer receives early access to a mysterious game that begins to blur the line between the game world and reality. As you play, the overlap becomes more obvious, and both worlds start influencing each other in increasingly unsettling ways.
Regarding gameplay, the focus is on exploration, survival horror, and puzzle solving. As this is a psychological horror game, there is less emphasis on combat and more focus on atmospheric and psychological tension.

Meccha Chameleon
Now for the game that is the main highlight of June 2026, and arguably one of the best indie games on the list. Meccha Chameleon was released on June 10, and it took the internet by storm. The game became instantly famous thanks to streamers and content creators.
It is a great game to play with your friends, and the more players you have, the better the experience becomes. You can hide in different places and paint yourself to blend with paintings, walls, or other objects. It is an extremely fun experience, especially when playing with friends.
Blending into objects and fooling your friends while anticipating the possibility of getting caught creates a very exciting feeling. Even if you are not good at painting, do not worry; you will still be able to enjoy this game. I highly recommend picking it up and playing it with your friends.

The following are some other noteworthy titles that are worth playing.
Little Nightmares 3 The Backstage DLC
I know Little Nightmares 3 is not an indie title, but its DLC was released recently, and it is extremely good. The DLC has managed to redeem what the base game did wrong, and the fans are very happy with it.
The DLC follows Low and Dime as they navigate through the Carnavale backstage area.
Dime is the new companion introduced in this DLC with a new mechanic that will help you throughout your journey. The environmental horror setting is much stronger, and the main boss design is very well executed.
The stealth sections are also much improved, as collecting items while avoiding the boss creates a tense and engaging experience. Even if you did not enjoy the base game, you should give this DLC a try, as it is that good. Deltarune Chapter 5
Deltarune is arguably one of the best indie games out there. If you have not played this game yet, you should definitely give it a try, as there are already five chapters, with the latest one released recently. The fifth chapter continues the story of Kris, Susie, and Ralsei as they explore new Dark Worlds.
This new chapter expands the game’s main narrative with a festival-themed setting and introduces many new characters and bosses. As it is an RPG at its core, you get to decide if you want to fight enemies, remain peaceful, or manipulate encounters in unusual ways. Of course, you cannot stay peaceful in all of the fights.
That said, there are many encounters designed so that you can complete them without killing anyone. Overall, it offers a solid experience.
