With the Corona Virus pandemic gripping the world most of us are trapped indoors. There are plenty of games you could be playing but here are five indie games not to play while self isolating.

Video games have come into their own as we’ve all had to take an unprecedented stint inside. Gaming is one of the few leisure activities that you can still do indoors, it allows for communication across the globe and much needed stress relief.

But there are simply some games you shouldn’t be playing unless you want to be absolutely terrified. Horror, post apocalyptic, isolated games are going to stress you out and you may just start merging fantasy with reality. Scary, unless that’s what you are in to!

As a cloud of nuclear waste gradually creeps in fight other survivors for the limited stocks. Alternatively head to your local supermarket to get your hands on toilet roll and engage in a similar experience.

What is now a genre defining platformer. Limbo will have you playing as a child, running from an unseen spider like creature and an ever encroaching darkness. This black and white game will have you feeling ever more isolated and alone. As fear creeps in and you will start imaging what’s outside your house at night, lurking in the darkness.

3. World Of Horror

Exactly what you don’t need right now is a soul searching horror sesh which will melt your mind. Enter World Of Horror. WOH will have you navigating a disturbing storyline through turn based combat in 1bit graphics, as you are forced to make choices with horrific consequences. You shouldn’t really be playing this on your own right now.

4. Metro Exodus

Board a train across Russia and adapt weapons to take on a hoards of monsters at each stop. Ok so things have not quite got to this stage yet but if you want to terrify yourself even further then take on hoards of creatures in this FPS with a difference. Expect to get jumpy and bloody. Expect to lock your windows and doors. Expect not leave your house even after quarantine is lifted.

5. Dying Light 2

Lets face it, as things are starting to feel a little more apocalyptic. We’re all taking our exercise and wondering who’s got ‘the virus’. It’s starting to feel like it’s heading one way, and that’s zombies. Dying Light 2 has you taking on the hordes with improvised weapons and various tactics. Survive long enough to make it to the end of the game, the end of the quarantine, but this is the type of game that will stay with you long after that.
