Project Nightmares Case 36: Henrietta Kedward, to give the game its full title, is a survival horror title with procedurally generated characters. Within the game a machine will induce you into a dream state. Throwing you into a living nightmare firsthand in order to discover the story of Henrietta Kedward, an old woman with a dark past.

Fanatics of 80s culture and experienced game developers Javier and Claudio are the team behind NC Studio and the Project Nightmares franchise. The game was first inspired by the Evil Dead. The team focuses on the art in indie games and aims to compete with the big studios through producing top quality indie games.

Project Nightmares is out now for Xbox Series and PS4 & PS5

Please could you introduce yourself?

We are a team of two people. Ignacio Javier Berge is in charge of the artistic part. He has been working in the world of art and music since he was a kid, with a career of more than 15 years in the video game industry. Claudio Ricardo Suriano is in charge of development, with a career of 10 years in videogame programming. We are very fanatic of the 80s culture and videogames.

And could you introduce your studio?

NC Studio was born with the idea of indie development, making games at the level of big studios with the perspective and the goal of focusing on art. NC Studio is the beginning of our career as independent developers.

What can you tell us about Project Nightmares?

Project Nightmares Case 36: Henrietta Kedward is our first video game. A challenging development in which we were able to learn a lot. Project Nightmares is a survival horror game with a procedural structure, creating unique scares every time you play.

A machine will induce you into a dream state, throwing you into a living nightmare firsthand in order to discover the story of Henrietta Kedward, an old woman with a dark past.

How did you come up with the concept?

We started with the idea of making a simple game, where a demonic identity would chase you through a labyrinthine environment. We achieved a very good graphic design and that made us realise that we could do something more complex.

We’re big fans of 80s movies and the first thing we thought of was Evil Dead. From there we instantly thought of doing an old lady and Henrietta was the perfect inspiration. We were creating an interesting story based on the occult.

Can you tell us a little about the gameplay?

The game contains typical survival horror gameplay, where we need to find objects to advance, solve puzzles and face enemies.

We came up with the idea of adding procedural scares, where each player will have a unique experience as in each game you will find different scares.

What do you love about indie horror games?

Indie games have the charm of being more artistically focused. They are games made with dedication. Behind an indie game there is a small group of people working with love on their projects and that makes them special.

What’s your next step for the game and plans for the future?

We are already working on a new Project Nightmares, a multiplayer game with the theme of case 36. A fun and scary game to play with friends. In the future we have plans to expand this title and develop different cases.

How do you hope audiences will respond to the game?

We had a very good response to the Steam version of the game. Unfortunately it’s not a very well known game, but we hope that with the console release the world of Project Nightmares will become better known. We’re sure horror fans will enjoy it a lot.

Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night scared the characters you have created have come to get you?

Haha, quite the opposite. When you do horror games you look for inspiration. A lot of times we dreamed scary things, woke up and said: “how cool would it be to put this in the game”. Grab a notepad or record an audio and the next day you can implement that scare into the game.

When is it out and how can people stay updated?

The game is out for Xbox Series and PS4 & PS5 on 04/27/2023. You can follow us to see our developments at @projectNightmares, on our website and on our Discord.
