1979 Revolution: Black Friday set to release on PS4 and Xbox One soon

Controversial narrative adventure game 1979 Revolution: Black Friday is set to release on PS4 and Xbox One later this year, thanks to indie label Digerati.

It’s been nearly two years since 1979 Revolution: Black Friday came out on Steam, and now it’s making the leap to consoles. Aided by indie publisher Digerati, the narrative game is coming to Xbox One and PS4 in Spring this year. No firm release date has been announced, but expect an announcement close to release in the coming months.

1979 Revolution: Black Friday is based on the Iranian Revolution, and was directed by Iranian expatriate Navid Khonsari. Based on real-life testimonies of the events that occurred during the Revolution, the game has been banned in Iran and dismissed by the government there as American propaganda.

The gameplay is based mainly on narrative and exploration, with the player’s choices having an impact on how the game’s story unfolds.

Here’s the official description:

The year is 1978, the place is Tehran, Iran. You play as Reza Shirazi, a young photojournalist who returns home to find his people protesting the ruling King, the Shah. Armed with your camera, you capture the emotionally-charged stories and events unfolding on the streets and in the shadows.

As you’re pulled deeper into the dangerous world of civil unrest and revolution, the fate of those around you becomes intrinsically linked to the decisions you make and the path you choose to follow.

Digerati has also released a new trailer for the game, paired with the console announcement. Have a look below:

1979 Revolution: Black Friday is currently available on PC, Mac, iOS and Android. Have a look at the official website here.
