Aegis Defenders to release in February for PC, Mac, PS4 and Switch

Ready your defences! In Aegis Defenders, Metroidvania meets tower defence as you explore the world of Elam and fight off enemies alone or in co-op.

Aegis Defenders is set to release on 8th February, publisher Humble Bundle has announced. The game will launch not only on the previously-announced platforms PC, Mac and PS4, but also on the Nintendo Switch.

Aegis Defenders is a Metroidvania-style action-adventure game with tower defence elements added to the mix. Apart from exploring a world trapped in the Dark Ages, you’ll find yourself fighting hordes of enemies. The game’s defence-heavy style of combat means that you’ll need to build blocks, turrets and traps to stop your enemies dead in their tracks.

The game feature multiple protagonists, and you can switch between them on-the-fly as necessary. In fact, you’ll have to do this a lot, as positioning them and making good use of their unique abilities is the key to survival.

Apart from this, your items and weapons in the game can be levelled up, and the game features a ‘Fusion Build’ system. In Fusion Build, you can combine various items together to interesting effects. Figuring out the best strategy that works for you will depend on a lot of factors, clearly.

Here’s the story blurb for the game:

HUMANITY HAS BEEN BROUGHT BACK INTO THE DARK AGES, BUT REMNANTS OF A ONCE HIGHLY ADVANCED CIVILIZATION STILL EXIST.
In a world where control over ancient technologies means power, a ruthless Empire has arisen. You play as a team of Ruinhunters searching for the one thing that can save their village – a legendary weapon known as Aegis.

There’s also a new Switch trailer for the game. Have a look below.

Here’s the game’s official website.
