Arc Raiders, a co-op extraction shooter, surprised everyone at launch. The game took the internet by storm by bringing in hundreds of thousands of players on Steam. It also sold four million copies quickly and is not slowing down anytime soon.
For those unaware, this game was originally supposed to be a free-to-play title. The developers announced during Gamescom 2024 that they had dropped the F2P model and that the game would now cost $40. However, that did not stop it from selling like hot cakes, so the developers were right on the mark. In fact, Arc Raiders remains a top seller on Steam, even though it has been more than three weeks since its release.
Arc Raiders Is The Number One Seller On Steam

Arc Raiders is currently the top seller on Steam, and it has held that position for quite some time. Even before launch, it was the top seller, and it has consistently maintained the number one spot. Sure, F2P titles like Counter Strike 2 have managed to appear above it at times, but when ranking top sellers, free-to-play games and the Steam Deck are not counted.
This game is unlikely to be dethroned, as no major releases are scheduled in the near future. However, you never know when an underdog might surprise everyone. One game that is on many players’ radar, Of Ash and Steel, is set to release on 24 November, so it may end up taking first place.
There is also a massive sale happening across many titles, which makes Arc Raiders position even more surprising. For reference, Forza Horizon is currently available at 50 percent off and sits in second place. In third is EA Sports FC 26, which is also 50 percent off. In fourth is Dispatch, one of the most surprising releases this month, which launched to an overwhelmingly positive reception.
A GOTY Nomination Worthy Title?

The fandom has mostly shown appreciation for Arc Raiders. The game currently boasts a very positive rating on Steam, which is a big accomplishment. There are some concerns, but most of them are related to the community. The main issue is that, unlike at the beginning, many players no longer cooperate, and the game has started to feel more like a run-and-shoot arena experience. The developers may be able to find a solution to this, but overall, the reception has been extremely positive.
Many players have even claimed that it is GOTY material and that it deserves a nomination. However, it was not nominated, mainly because this year’s list was dominated by indie games. Even so, while it may have missed out on the most prestigious award, it was nominated for Best Multiplayer Game.
