Banner Saga 3 Kickstarter concludes with more than $400K raised

Banner Saga 3’s Kickstarter saga has finally come to an end, and the final game in the series has raised over $400,000 while hitting two more stretch goals.

It was back in January that we reported the start of the Kickstarter for Banner Saga 3, the conclusive game in The Banner Saga series. The Kickstarter has finally concluded today, with a magnanimous $416,986 raised by 8086 backers. This is over twice the original goal of raising $200,000 for the game.

The campaign has also broken through all but one stretch goal announced. The first stretch goal provided for the inclusion of playable Dredge heroes in the game, while the second is Survival Mode, in which players face battle after battle of increasing difficulty trying their best to survive for as long as possible. The third stretch goal brings back Ubin, the old Varl hero from previous games. Finally, the fourth achieved stretch goal is the Eternal Arena, a quick-play option where players can set up battles with deep customisation options.

The final stretch goal would have led to a 4-issue comic book mini-series, created by Madefire. As this stretch goal was not reached, it is currently in limbo and it remains to be seen whether Stoic is able to produce the mini-series or not.

As is probably suitable for the final game in the series, Banner Saga 3 puts you in a dark, apocalyptic plot as your Vikings now travel into “untold darkness”, where you’ll be tormented by a wyrm. As secrets are made clear and motives are revealed, you will discover if the friends you’ve made so far were true to you or not.

Banner Saga 3 is in development for PC and Mac. While it does not have a release date yet, Stoic estimates a December 2018 release on the official Kickstarter page.
