Bookbound Brigade is a platformer with adorable takes on literary legends
In Bookbound Brigade, literature is in peril and the only ones who can save it are Tesla, Dracula, Queen Victoria, and the rest of the gang.
We may have never got a proper game based on The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, but indies won’t give up on the dream without a fight. In the upcoming Bookbound Brigade, you control a huddle of literary legends as they attempt to recover the “Book of Books”, which is a big book that contains every other book ever written.
Your crack team includes Dracula, King Arthur, Queen Victoria, Nikola Tesla, Cassandra, Dorothy Gale, Sun Wukong the Monkey King and Robin Hood. Apart from controlling this motley bunch, you’ll also meet literary characters in your quests and may even beat the living ink out of them.
The gameplay itself appears to be strongly in the Metroidvania vein when it comes to level design, but its also appears to have lots of perilous platforming. The characters in your posse each have unique traits, but they will be controlled as one. They’ll also look quite adorable doing it, if the trailer below is anything to go by:
Bookbound Brigade is under development at Digital Tales, a development studio based in Milan, Italy, which also has offices in Rome and Miami. Publishing duties are being handled by the Korean publisher Intragames.
The game is planned to release later this year across PC, PS4, and Switch. It will also be present and playable at Gamescom from 20th to 22nd August, in Cologne, Germany.
