Burly Men at Sea sails its way to PS4 and PS Vita in September

A year after its release on computers and mobiles, the nautical storybook adventure Burly Men at Sea will make its console debut on the PS4 and PS Vita.

Three burly brothers are out to adventure upon the high seas, and their fate takes them to strange places and stranger events. A decidedly less strange place they’re now adventuring in is the realm of Sony consoles. Burly Men at Sea will be available on PS4 and PS Vita on September 19th.

Among the touted features for the release are trophy support, cross-save capabilities and PS4 Pro support, so that you can see the flat minimalist graphics in beautiful 4K. Being a cross-buy title, you’ll only have to buy Burly Men at Sea once to get it for both your PS4 and PS Vita.

The developers have also pointed out that the game will be playable at the PlayStation booth over at PAX West. It’s taking place in Seattle from 1st to 4th September, if you’re interested in that sort of thing.

If nautical nonsense is something you wish, Burly Men at Sea might be right up your alley with its simplistic presentation and calmly charming storytelling. It’s set in early 20th century Scandinavia, and follows three fishermen brothers as they meet all kinds of folkloric creatures, even womenfolk(!). The game was developed by Arkansas-based husband-wife duo David and Brooke Condolora, of whom David handled the programming while Brooke dealt with story, art and animation.

Burly Men at Sea is presently available on Android, iOS, PC and Mac (Steam, Humble Store, Itch.io).

More soothing adventuring awaits in The Gardens Between, a wordless game about friendships and time manipulation. For more stylised graphics and a survival bent, check out Torla.
