Fly like a bird when Daedalic’s AER – Memories of Old releases in October

Calm yet colourful flying game AER – Memories of Old lets you control a girl who can turn into a bird. It’s coming out soon on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Publisher Daedalic Entertainment has announced that AER – Memories of Old (previously titled just ‘AER’) is coming out on 27th October for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game has been in development since at least 2013 over at Swedish studio Forgotten Key, and is finally on track for final release.

AER – Memories of Old has you playing as Auk, a girl who can turn into a bird. You’re going to have to do that quite a bit, considering the game is set in an open world full of islands floating in air.

Auk is on a pilgrimage to the Land of Gods, which is rendered in a strikingly minimalistic style. There are puzzles to solve, animals to befriend, secrets to uncover and mysteries to… unmystify? There also doesn’t seem to be any combat, which really adds to the zen-like calm the game has to offer.

The last we had a look at AER was last year (back when the devs were still expecting a 2016 release). That’s when they released a trailer showing off some of the gameplay.

While there’s no pre-order pages for any of the versions of the game, you can add it to your Steam wishlist over at the official store page. Forgotten Key has yet to release any new footage of the game from their Gamescom showing, but have a look at one of the game’s older trailers below.

Speaking of people turning into animals, have you heard of Swery’s next game, The Good Life? You might also like the meditative puzzle game The Gardens Between, which takes a wordless friendship-based story to interesting places.
