The official first ever public playtest of DREADMOOR is now available on Steam, but it is limited to the Steam Ocean Fest only.

DREADMOOR is an atmospheric adventure game with a strong focus on fishing and a first-person perspective. Players will traverse a flooded world filled with skill-based fishing, survival crafting, real time combat, and extensive exploration. For more information regarding the game, players can visit its Steam page. If it looks like something you would enjoy, make sure to wishlist it.

The Steam Ocean Fest began on May 18, and shortly after on May 19, the public playtest was officially released, allowing players to try the game until May 25.

Previously, the playtest was only available to a very limited number of people. It was restricted to in person events and showcases. However, during the Steam Ocean Fest, players from anywhere can now jump into the game from the safety of their own homes.

The playtest introduces plenty of new features. These include a full day and night cycle, along with terrifying nightmare tentacle attacks that emerge after dark.

Aside from that, there is a lot players can do. Players can explore forbidden areas by gaining access through lockpicking. They can also solve challenging brain teasing puzzles scattered throughout the world.

During the playtest, players will step into the role of a rugged fisher trying to survive in a plague ridden bayou. The waters have become home to terrifying mutated creatures.

Armed with only a battered fishing boat and limited supplies, players will venture deep into the flooded wilderness. They will discover fishing hotspots, scavenge valuable resources, and hunt dangerous aquatic predators lurking beneath the surface.

As players explore the Submerged Lands, they will need to carefully manage their catches. They can repair and upgrade their equipment while deciding how far they are willing to push into hostile territory for greater rewards.

Every expedition brings new risks. Larger and deadlier creatures require specialized bait, upgraded fishing gear, and stronger hull reinforcements to survive the journey.

That is only a glimpse of what players will be able to experience during the playtest. If you want to check out the trailer for the game’s playtest, click here.
