What Remains of Edith Finch Xbox One release date set for next week

What Remains of Edith Finch, after an initial release on PC and PS4, will wander its way onto the Xbox One in just a week. Here’s a look at what it’s about.

One of the best games to come out this year, the inventive walking simulator What Remains of Edith Finch is finally coming to the Xbox One. The release date for the Xbox One version has been set to 19th July, which means that it’s coming out next Wednesday. The news comes via a post on Xbox Wire, which does not mention any special features for the Xbox One version of the game.

So what is it about exactly? Speaking at length about What Remains of Edith Finch to someone who hasn’t played it is a little criminal. The game is a walking simulator that strings together a series of short stories surrounding the eventual deaths of the Finch family. It’s not as sombre as it sounds: many of the stories are wondrously engrossing.

The game has been developed by Giant Sparrow, the team responsible for the Sony-exclusive The Unfinished Swan. It’s published by the new Annapurna Interactive label.

What Remains of Edith Finch is currently available on Steam (PC) and PlayStation 4. On the European PS Store, the game is currently at a 25 percent discount until the 20th.
