Steam-powered city survival game Frostpunk gets an April release date
10 Mar, 2018
Are you prepared to make harsh decisions to save your fledgling city? Or will you perish in the ice and snow? You can find out next month in Frostpunk.
11 bit studios’ Frostpunk finally has a release date. The game will release on 24th April, exclusively for the PC. This is a little later than the original Q1 2018 release date announced last month, but according to the devs, the game needed a little more polish.
Digitally, it will be available on Steam, GOG.com and Humble Store. The digital version will be priced at $29.99 USD.
You can even pick up the game at a retail store, as the game will be launching with a boxed ‘Victorian Edition’. This version of the book includes the hardcover book “New London – The Art of Frostpunk”. The retail version of the game will be a little more expensive than the digital version (understandably so), priced at $34.99 USD.
There’s a new trailer to celebrate the announcement of the release date. Have a look at it below.
Frostpunk comes from the developers behind the thoughtful This War of Mine, in which players were tasked with the survival of civilians trapped in a war. This time around, players are in control of an entire city that uses steam power to fight the oppressive cold around it.
To survive, you will need to make tough decisions, balancing empathy with efficiency. You will also have to explore your surroundings, which will help you understand the history behind how things turned out the way they did.
