While this year, Indie and AA games have totally dominated the competition, there have been notable AAA releases. A recent AAA game that is attracting major praise is Ghost of Yotei. The game received a score of 86 on Metacritic, which, by the way, is more than its predecessors.
Many people are praising it, while some are pointing out areas that could have been improved. That said, its launch appears to be quite successful. On the PlayStation Store, Ghost of Yotei has received a 96 percent 5-star rating, which is a major achievement.
It is worth noting that the game faced a lot of criticism and was embroiled in controversy ahead of its release. In fact, the trailer released just before launch was bombarded with dislikes.
As of the time of writing, the One Thousand Blades trailer has 22,000 thumbs up and 69,000 thumbs down. This is not official, of course, as these numbers were gathered using a browser extension, so the real count may differ since it is based on estimates. This means the dislikes are more than three times the number of likes, which is far from ideal for any game.
Ghost Of Yotei Launch Impresses, Despite Controversies
The game’s visuals have impressed even tech experts, with the base PS5 version holding its own against the Pro variant. While much of the conversation before launch focused on the controversy surrounding the game’s main lead, the final product has managed to shift attention back to where it belongs: the overall experience.
Given the positive rating, it appears that fans are enjoying the game. Currently, with over 16,000 reviews, the game sits at a solid 4.88 rating, higher than Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut (it has a 4.60 rating based on almost 270,000 players).
It is a massive achievement because this makes Ghost of Yotei the second-highest rated PlayStation exclusive on the platform. The highest-rated game is none other than Death Stranding 2, which impressed almost everyone on launch.
It’s worth noting that the game currently has only 16,000 reviews on the PlayStation Store. This number is relatively low compared to other higher or lower-rated titles. That’s because the game was released just over a week ago. It will be interesting to see if Ghost of Yotei remains the second-highest rated PlayStation exclusive over time.
As of now, the game is only available on PlayStation 5, and there is currently no news about its PC port.
