Hella cute 3D platformer A Hat in Time gets an October release date

Stitch up some headgear in A Hat in Time, a “cute-as-heck” crowdfunded 3D platformer releasing in October for PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One.

According to the newest Kickstarter update from developer Gears for Breakfast, A Hat in Time is slated to release on 5th October. The game will release across all the consoles it’s been announced for: PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One. For PC and Mac, the game will be available on Steam, GOG.com and Humble Store.

What’s A Hat in Time about? Here’s how the devs put it:

In A Hat in Time you play as a tiny space-travelling girl with a big tophat. Her adventure is halted when all her fuel, the Time Pieces, is lost and scattered across a nearby planet. Hat Kid must now jump, fight and stitch new hats to make her way into every nook and cranny of this new world in order to restore her fuel and resume her journey. On her way, she’ll bump into the menacing Mafia of Cooks, the goofy birds of Dead Bird Studio, the spooky shadows of Subcon Forest, and more!

The game has support for both online and local co-op, so Hat Girl need not be alone in her adventures.

The blog post above also talks about how important modding is to the developers. On PC, the game will ship with modding support that will allow modders to add hats, create new levels and modify scripts. Spiffy.

The game will also feature a few official mods at launch, themed after other indie games. These comprise of new hats based on Freedom Planet, Psychonauts, Hyper Light Drifter, Shovel Knight and more.
