The massive Humble Freedom Bundle raises $3m in under a day

With the Humble Freedom Bundle, Humble Bundle is matching contributions up to $300k, donating to the ACLU, IRC and MSF and protesting Trump’s travel ban.

Yesterday, Humble Bundle released what might be the biggest bundle it’s made yet, containing a whopping 40 video games and 7 books (and counting). Titled the Humble Freedom Bundle, this one has a very specific goal in mind: to oppose the travel ban passed by US president Donald Trump. Humble Bundle has promised to donate all proceeds to the American Civil Liberties Union, the International Rescue Committee and MSF (That’s Médecins Sans Frontières, or Doctors Without Borders—not to be confused with Militaires Sans Frontieres from Metal Gear Solid).

It’s not a case of quantity over quality, however. The Humble Freedom Bundle contains such terrific, well-received indie titles as The Witness, Stardew Valley, Super Meat Boy; Invisible, Inc.; The Stanley Parable, Guacamelee! and The Swapper (amongst many others). In the way books, there’s both fiction, non-fiction, one reference for the R programming language and even some Neil Gaiman. For $30, it’s an excellent deal, although a few games are running out of Steam keys already. Furthermore, even more games are expected to be added to the bundle—at no additional cost—later today.

The bundle was apparently put together in a week, and was a collaborative idea between Humble employees and game developers. In the Charity description section of the bundle, Humble Bundle talks about how the USA is a ‘nation of immigrants’, and quotes The New Colossus by Emma Lazarus.

You can pay what you want (as long as you pay the minimum $30) to get the Humble Freedom Bundle. As usual, you can choose which of the three supported charities you want your money to go to, with the default being an even split between the three.
