Indie Game Releases of the Week: 30th November to 6th December 2020
29 Nov, 2020
This week in indie games, we have the RPG adventure Haven, puzzle adventure Phogs!, action RPG Morbid: The Seven Acolytes, and more.
It’s December already? Well, maybe that’s for the best, given all that’s happened this year. The last month of the year is kicking off with a banging week of indie releases, including some titles that I’ve been waiting a long time for. There’s plenty of variety to be had, too, from Western-themed stealth to goofy two-headed dogs to dark humour to role-playing games both bright and horrific.
Did we miss an indie game that’s coming out this week? Let us know in the comments!
Morbid: The Seven Acolytes
3rd December on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch (Backwards Compatible on PS5, Xbox Series X/S)
Morbid: The Seven Acolytes is an action RPG with a strong ‘horrorpunk’ theme going to it. It takes from Lovecraft for its setting, and the Souls games for its action gameplay, and the result is a dark and gruesome adventure that strongly calls Bloodborne to mind.
Phogs!
3rd December on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Stadia (Backwards Compatible on PS5, Xbox Series X/S)
Phogs! is a puzzle adventure game in which you control a pair of dogs connected by one very stretchy belly. You can play solo or in co-op as you adventure through the lands of Food, Sleep, and Play, using your good-boy abilities like barking and biting to solve puzzles and conquer obstacles.
Haven
3rd December on PC, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Haven is an RPG adventure about a pair of lovers who have escaped to a lost planet to be together. You’ll be using tactics and timing to fight forces that are threatening to pull you apart, while also building your relationship when outside of combat. Note that the game will not release on PS4 until next year.
El Hijo
3rd December on PC
El Hijo is a spaghetti-western-themed stealth game in which you control a six-year-old boy surviving in the Wild West and trying to find his mother. As the game features no combat, you’ll have to rely on your own stealthy ingenuity and tools to get out of jams.
Nine Witches: Family Disruption
4th December on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch (Backwards Compatible on PS5, Xbox Series X/S)
Nine Witches: Family Disruption is a point-and-click adventure set in rural Norway during World War II. Laced with dark humour, the game has you controlling occult science professor Alexei Krakovitz and his Japanese assistant Akiro Kagasawa as they seek to unravel the mystery of the dark moon that hangs over the village of Sundäe.
