Indie Game Releases of the Week: 6th to 12th April 2020

This week in indie games, we have comedy in The Procession to Calvary, strategy in Radio General, card battler Ancient Enemy, and more.

After a thunderous couple weeks, we have a quieter week in April. There’s no original releases for consoles this time around, but you’ll find some ports of excellent indie games like Galaxy of Pen & Paper, as well as Convoy. The originals are all on computers this week, with every one of our featured games showing up on PC. Be sure to check out the honourable mentions below!

Ufflegrim

6th April on PC, Linux

Ufflegrim is a card-based roguelike game in which you can collect your enemies and then summon them later. There’s 100 floors to clear, and over 100 enemies to build your deck with. You can either summon them in combat directly, or use them to buff other creatures. You can also build a base, and battle bosses, and the game offers you a choice between permadeath and softcore gameplay.

Mask of Mists

9th April on PC

Mask of Mists is a first-person action-adventure game set in a fantasy world full of magic and ancient ruins. You get to explore this fantastical world while battling magical creatures and collecting items with which to solve puzzles.

Ancient Enemy

9th April on PC

Ancient Evil is a card-battler RPG set in a world in which evil has already won. Nevertheless, you must journey to vanquish evil once and for all. Along the way, you’ll engage in turn-based combat based on how you play your cards. It claims inspiration from such titles as Darkest Dungeon and Slay the Spire, but bears a resolutely unique, Solitaire-style combat system.

The Procession to Calvary

9th April on PC, Mac, Linux

The Procession to Calvary is a Pythonesque point-and-click adventure made entirely out of Renaissance-era art. If that sounds familiar to you, it’s because this game comes from the developer of the similarly-produced Four Last Things. This time around, you’ll be chasing down the tyrant Heavenly Peter and engage in all kinds of comical adventuring. You even get to poke a man’s face.

Radio General

10th April on PC, Mac, Linux

Radio General is a strategy game played by way of speech recognition. You’re a Canadian general sitting in a tent, and your war is not just with the Nazis, but also incomplete reports and confused troops. You’ll have to make important decisions in wartime, with such factors as ammunition, stamina, camouflage, morale, and more.
