Indie Game Releases of the Week: February 1 to 7, 2021

This week in indie games, we have the squirrelly mystery adventure Nuts, shoot-em-up Habroxia 2, strategy game The Captain is Dead, and more.

How is the new year treating ya? We’re 1/12th of our way through it already, and we’ve already had several exciting indie releases in the month of January. As we move on to February, we have several rarer indies that could easily have slipped under the radar. We’ve got everything from space hijinks to shooting to plagues to… squirrel surveillance?!

The Captain is Dead

The Captain is Dead is a survival strategy game with a premise that’s straight what it says on the tin. It’s based on the board game of the same name, and it has you playing as a member of the ship’s crew as they use their unique talents to defend their spaceship against an alien threat.

Habroxia 2 is a classic-style shoot ’em up featuring non-linear gameplay, ship upgrades, boss fights, New Game+, and even a boss rush mode. As the starpilot Sabrina, you must venture into the unknown to find your missing pilot father, while battling the forces that attacked human Free Space.

Nuts is a mystery adventure about squirrel surveillance, in which you play as a rookie field researcher in the depths of Melmoth Forest. You plant cameras by day, watch the footage by night, and attempt to track the paths of the squirrels caught on camera. The squirrels hold the key to a strange mystery, as you’ll discover in this fully-voice-acted adventure.

Henry Mosse and the Wormhole Conspiracy

Henry Mosse and the Wormhole Conspiracy is a point-and-click adventure about an ambitious teenager in a futuristic galaxy, who uncovers a sinister conspiracy. This voice-acted adventure features branching puzzle solutions, a hint system, and a rollicking space adventure yarn about coming-of-age and cosmic evil.

The Great Plague Exodus

The Great Plague Exodus is a simulation/life sim game set in 1665 England, where you must struggle to survive on the road at a time when the Great Plague has ravaged London and beyond. Apart from letting you customize your player’s family, the game features hundreds of random events that will bring your story to life.
