Indie Game Releases of the Week: February 22 to 28, 2021

This week in indie games, we have the taxi driving game Taxi Chaos, arcade wrestling game RetroMania Wrestling, and more.

Indie games abound this week, but we’re looking at a special love for the retro – Crazy Taxi fans should find reason to cheer in Taxi Chaos, and a 1991 arcade wrestling game gets its sequel in RetroMania Wrestling. Apart from these, there’s action, adventure, and mayhem to be found all around.

We also have a particularly large list of original indie game releases below. My personal picks? Keep an eye out for Hot Brass, Project Entertainment System, and The Caregiver.

Finally, we have a variety of ports coming to consoles, including Dry Drowning, Yupitergrad, Pumpkin Jack, Retrace: Memories of Death, and Killer Queen Black.

Curse of the Dead Gods

February 23 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch (Backwards compatible on PS5, Xbox Series X/S)

Curse of the Dead Gods is an action roguelike game with a heavy focus on skill-based gameplay, and in which you can harness curses and corruption to your advantage (if you can handle them). As you plumb the depths of an accursed temple, you’ll have to take what abilities you can acquire and defeat enemies in dark.

Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos

February 23 on PC, Switch

Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos is an action-adventure game with a co-operative focus. You can team up with up to 3 of your buddies (there’s plenty of classes to go around) to explore the vast world of Tasos and fight monsters in procedurally-generated dungeons. As you progress, you can rebuild your town and gain further upgrades.

Taxi Chaos

February 23 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch

Taxi Chaos is a taxi driving game where you must deliver your passengers to their destinations as fast as possible – no matter what. Your bizarre passengers may have absurd expectations from you, but as the driver, you must fulfil them if you’re to make green money in New Yellow City.

It’s built from the ground-up as an homage of Crazy Taxi games, so if you enjoyed Sega’s classic franchise, you should fit right in with Taxi Chaos.

Horned Knight

February 24 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
February 26 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch

Horned Knight is an action-platformer with retro-style gameplay and retro-style difficulty to boot. As the Hero Knight (who happens to be horned), you must overcome enemies and traps across perilous platforming levels. The game may be generous with checkpoints, but it also promises to be brutally difficult, making it geared towards fans of old-school platformers.

RetroMania Wrestling

February 26 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch

RetroMania Wrestling is an arcade wrestling game that serves as a sequel to the 30-year-old Japanese arcade game Wrestlefest. The game looks and feels like a classic arcader, with pick-up-and-play gameplay and local multiplayer.
