Indie Game Releases of the Week: March 1 to 7, 2021

This week in indie games, we have the puzzler Maquette, 3D platformer Mail Mole, strategy RPG Loop Hero, 2D platformer Sir Lovelot, and more.

The beginning of March brings us new releases from two of the most well-known indie game publishers around: Maquette from Annapurna Interactive and Loop Hero from Devolver Digital. Apart from these, though, we’ve got a heck of a lot of jumping to do, both in 2D and 3D, in our other featured games for the week.

Also be sure to check out the other new indie releases, as well as the many ports making their way to various systems!

Maquette is a first-person puzzle game where the world is recursive, and every single object you see can be both tiny or huge. What is a small crack can turn out to be a massive chasm, all depending on where you’re standing. The story deals with a modern love story, all while weaving environmental puzzles through.

Sir Lovelot is a 2D platformer in which you control the titular knight as he searches for a damsel who will become the love of his life. You explore platforming levels aplenty, jumping over platforms, climbing ropes, defeating monsters, all in the best possible time.

Mail Mole

Mail Mole is a 3D platformer in which you control the fastest delivery mole, Molty, as he jumps and digs his way to saving Carrotland from disaster. You’ll be making new friends, exploring new levels, dodging dangers, putting on fancy accessories, and solving puzzles. And of course, digging a lot.

Loop Hero

March 4 on PC, Mac, Linux

Loop Hero is a strategy RPG in which your world is stuck in a time loop instigated by ‘The Lich’, and where you must use an expanding deck of cards to place enemies, buildings, and terrain in an expedition that is unique each time. As you collect loot and build up your camp, you will be able to defeat deadly bosses and break the time loop.

Slime Fantasy: The Search for the Lost Sword

March 4 on PC

Slime Fantasy: The Search for the Lost Sword is an authentically 8-bit retro platformer in which you control a slime hero who’s lost his sword. As he attempts to recover his sword and defend the slime kingdom, he must hop across and traverse a minimalistic, but dangerous world. The game is created for a fictional virtual console, which imposes limitations from the 8-bit era in an attempt to present an experience of that generation of games.
