Indie Game Releases of the Week: March 8 to 14, 2021

This week in indie games, we have the point-and-click adventure Cyanide & Happiness – Freakpocalypse, the audio-based Blind Drive, and more.

It’s the dawn of another funky-fresh line-up of indie games to play, and we’ll be kicking it off with the latest in the Stronghold series, which takes us to East Asia. We also have a point-and-click adventure based on the webcomic Cyanide & Happiness, a game about a very violent bunny, an audio-based driving game (?!), and a bomb defusing simulator.

Stronghold: Warlords

March 9 on PC

Stronghold: Warlords is a castle-building strategy game that takes you to medieval China, Japan, and the Mongol Empire. Apart from building and managing your castle economy, you can also besiege other castles and cities. Unique to this edition of Stronghold is the introduction of ‘warlords’, who are AI-controlled, but will do your bidding should you recruit them.

Blind Drive

March 10 on PC, Mac

Blind Drive is an arcade driving game where you can’t see a damn thing. You’ll have to rely entirely on audio feedback in this B-movie-inspired black comedy as you drive against incoming traffic and stay ahead of the cops. It’s got two-button gameplay, extra-fine rumble support on gamepads, and a ‘very rude GPS’.

Cyanide & Happiness – Freakpocalypse

March 11 on PC, Switch

Cyanide & Happiness – Freakpocalypse is a point-and-click adventure game that takes you to the harrowing world of a high school in the universe of the darkly humorous webcomic Cyanide & Happiness. Fully voiced, replete with cutscenes, and featuring a range of characters from Cyanide & Happiness, you must navigate the orphan hero Coop McCarthy through high school, and save the world.

Sapper – Defuse The Bomb Simulator

March 11 on PC

Sapper – Defuse the Bomb Simulator is a simulation game in which you play as a sapper defusing bombs and not making nearly enough money for a job that straddles life and death. You’ll have to search for bombs in various locations and defuse them with your skills and tools, all before the bomb goes boom.

Bloody Bunny, The Game

March 11 on Switch

Bloody Bunny, the Game is a hack-and-slash action game set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans have been turned into dolls. Bloody Bunny, who seems to be the only one to retain her memories, must fight everyone who gets in her way to rescue her sister and destroy the one responsible for the world’s state.
