Indie Game Releases of the Week: October 4 to 10, 2021

This week in indie games, we have the action-adventure Jett: The Far Shore, platformer Jack Axe, puzzle-adventure Night Reverie, and more.

This one’s a quieter week for indie games as we see relatively fewer original releases, but a number of ports. Our featured picks include the long-awaited Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan and Jett: The Far Shore, as well as other inventive new adventures.

Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan

October 5 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch

Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan is a puzzle-adventure game with a wholesome, family-friendly inclination, in which you must bring back color to the world and save whimsical creatures. In this non-violent story, you’ll help strange creature by conversation and create a world of color and empathy.

Jett: The Far Shore

October 5 on PC, PS4, PS5

Jett: The Far Shore is an action-adventure game about a scout deployed to an ocean planet, who must explore a vast world in an adventure across five acts. The game promises laidback moments, white-knuckle action, heartfelt companionship, and more.

The Lightbringer

October 7 on PC, Linux, Switch

The Lightbringer is a puzzle platformer in which you must drive back a corruption that’s taking over a beautiful world. The game blends its Zelda influence with platforming challenges, and all the while you’ll be accompanied by your sister’s spirit as she narrates the gameplay entirely in verse.

Jack Axe

October 7 on PC, Switch

Jack Axe is a platformer game about Jack, a girl who breaks taboo and takes on a man’s job by wielding an axe. Jack Axe fuses Norse and Filipino mythology, taking you on an open-world platforming adventurer that you can play either alone or with friends.

Night Reverie

October 8 on PC

Night Reverie is a puzzle adventure game in which a child tries to solve the mystery of why his house has gotten distorted. As you explore the dreamlike environments of Night Reverie, you’ll also meet colorful new characters and solve a variety of intuitive puzzles.
