Getting positive reviews on Steam is not easy, as players are quick to point out if something feels off in a game. However, when a game delivers a solid overall experience, players are often willing to leave positive feedback.

Even then, earning consistent positive reviews is never guaranteed, as every player’s experience can differ. That is exactly why these indie games getting such high ratings so quickly and from almost every reviewer is surprising.

A demo for Iron Nest: Heavy Turret Simulator was released on June 15, and it is already the second-highest rated title of 2026 so far on Steam.

Previously, we reported on June 15 that Creature Kitchen is the highest-rated Steam game of 2026 so far. That is still unchanged, but it is surprising to see another game reaching such a high position on the charts so quickly. Thanks to that, Berry Burry Berry, Pragmata, and Resident Evil Requiem have been pushed back one position each.

It is quite surprising for a demo to reach such positive reviews. Demos are used to gauge how the fandom perceives a game and what improvements a developer can make to the full version. There can, of course, be some criticism in the positive reviews, but overall, it just shows how brilliant the game is.

The demo for Iron Nest has received a rating of over 95 percent (according to SteamDB), indicating that the vast majority have enjoyed playing it. On the official Steam page, there are over 5,500 reviews, and only 54 of them are negative. It seems that fans have treated the demo as a demo and been generous in their reviews. Many have even explained how the game can be improved further, suggestions that will surely help the developer.

Great potential, I had a lot of fun estimating coordinates. Doing it all efficiently under time constraint of retaliating barrage is very satisfying as well. I hope Nick will consider adding coop, since there is a lot of roles to play within Iron Nest, from measurements with map to loading a gun. So roleplaying it with friends as well could be a real blast

-Fan Review On Steam

Several fans are claiming that the demo is so good that it makes them curious to see what comes next. This is the type of quality that makes the fandom want to buy the game on release.

This strong reception has also translated into a wave of positive reactions from players.

An Overwhelming Success

The demo currently has an overwhelmingly positive reception on Steam, a feat unlikely to be undone. The fandom has very positive things to say about the game, with one even claiming it to be the best game they have played since playing Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

I absolutely loved IRON NEST. Learning how to use maps, coordinates, triangulation, and all the turret systems was incredibly satisfying.
