Meccha Chameleon was released earlier this month, and it immediately became popular thanks to the constant attention it received from streamers. Many players have found creative ways to play the game, and thanks to that, its popularity has continued to grow.
The game has managed to sell 10 million copies within just 16 days after launch, putting many AAA games to shame in such a short period of time. Meccha Chameleon has been sitting at the top of Steam’s best sellers chart for quite a while now, and that has not changed despite the massive Steam Summer Sale.
Meccha Chameleon Holds Onto the Top Spot on Steam

The Steam Summer Sale launched on June 25, so it has already been on for three days at the time of this writing. However, despite the steep discounts on many highly acclaimed games, Meccha Chameleon continues to hold the number one spot on Steam’s best sellers chart.
Meccha Chameleon remains number one even including free-to-play games. That said, if we exclude free-to-play titles, Cyberpunk 2077 takes second place, while the classic roguelike The Binding of Isaac sits in third. Both of these games are available at massive discounts, and yet an indie title released on June 10 holds the number one spot.
The main reason for this game’s popularity is arguably the presence of streamers and content creators, which the game’s design particularly leans into. Meccha Chameleon supports viewer participation, public lobbies, and chaotic gameplay that naturally produce funny and unpredictable moments and viral clips.
It Maintains a Very Positive Rating on Steam
The game has reached an all-time peak of more than 340,000 concurrent players, which is an impressive achievement for an indie game. On top of that, despite attracting such a massive player base, the game currently holds a Very Positive rating on Steam, making its success even more remarkable.
The game’s unique concept has been well received by players, and fans have shown their appreciation by leaving thousands of positive reviews on Steam. Its continued popularity suggests that Meccha Chameleon is not slowing down anytime soon.
Game so good i became a door to door salesman for it – except the door was my friends DMs and the product was mandatory fun. This game awakened the Picasso in all of us. And the workshop maps? Chef’s kiss-excellent collection.
