Fast-paced platformer N++ gets an Ultimate Edition, now has 4000+ levels
22 Apr, 2017
If you’ve somehow beaten the 2000+ levels of the original N++, here’s another couple thousand to keep you occupied. Say hello to the Ultimate Edition.
When N++ launched in July 2015, it included an incredible 2,360 levels, all of them made by hand, not some procedural generation gimmick. Clearly this number was not enough, and so developer Metanet Software has upped the number of levels to 4,340. This lets the developer boast that N++: Ultimate Edition is the last platformer you’re going to need.
Apart from the increase in number of levels and the doubling of colour schemes used in the game, Metanet has also added a ‘hardcore’ mode to the game, in which “the clock is always ticking and every death counts”.
The Ultimate Edition of N++ is available completely free to owners of the original game (although Metanet did consider charging for it as DLC and decided against it). If you own the game on Steam, it’ll show up as an update. An update is also on its way to PS4 players, but no release date has been announced as of now.
In celebration of the update, N++ has been discounted by 50 percent on Steam. The offer will end within a day, so you’d better get used to making snap decisions.
Here’s a new trailer showcasing the Ultimate Edition.
Not familiar with the original game? It’s a game about a ninja speeding through minimalist, kind of sci-fi levels, trying not to get killed. Here’s a bunch of bullet points straight from the developer.
-2,360 hand-made levels
-Custom Levels, Level Editor & Global Level Sharing
-Leaderboards and replays for every level (even the ones you make)
-Local Co-op Mode (up to 4 players)
-Local Competitive Mode (up to 4 Players)
-63 tracks by top electronic artists
-60 color palettes to customize the game’s look
-and more!
Needless to say, the number of levels and colour palettes has increased now.
