Never Stop Sneakin’ is a Metal Gear spoof by Dust: An Elysian Tail dev

Never Stop Sneakin’ is out to scratch that classic Metal Gear Solid itch, right down to the low-poly aesthetic. It’s coming to Switch this holiday season.

That villain Amadeus Guildenstern has travelled through time and kidnapped all the American presidents. All of them. It’s up to you to sneak into his base and save the day, but along the way, you’re going to have to deal with Guildenstern’s forces. This is the set-up to Humble Hearts’ Never Stop Sneakin’, a send-up to the original Metal Gear Solid.

Before we really get into explaining the game, you need to watch the trailer. It’s even got a Donna Burke parody song.

Whew.

This is a bit of a surprising title coming from Dean Dodrill, the creator of Dust: An Elysian Tail (Steam). That game had a very distinct, 2D animated aesthetic and was an action-platformer that won quite a bit of praise from critics and players alike.

Dodrill said about the change in aesthetic and theme on his Twitter, “I wanted to try something in a completely different aesthetic, and go fully-polygonal in the process. I wanted to create something procedural and infinitely re-playable, and design engaging combat with the simplest controls possible. I think I’ve accomplished these things, and it’s been a thrill to create something completely different from Dust:AET.”

The game features the voice talent of Game Grumps’ Egoraptor (amongst others), and also the return of Dust collaborators such as writer Alex Kain (who also wrote Armello and Salt & Sanctuary), sound production team Hyperduck Soundworks and voiceover director Dev Mack.

Never Stop Sneakin’ will be out this holiday season, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch (for now, at least).

There really aren’t enough stealth games on the Switch. If you’ve got a PC, however, two recent titles that might pique your interest are the clean-em-up Serial Cleaner and the spaceship-bumbling-simulator Heat Signature.
