Path of Exile won’t release on PS4 until next year, thanks to the certification process

Path of Exile was supposed to show up on PS4 this December, but the long certification process has made that impossible. Look forward to the port next year.

It looks like Path of Exile won’t be making the cut for Christmas this year, as far the PlayStation 4 version goes. Although originally announced for a December release, the port has been delayed. This is because the devs at Grinding Gear Games underestimated how long Sony’s certification process would take.

The certification could actually be completed in January, but the devs want to tool with the frame rate and performance a little before release. The result is that Path of Exile for the PS4 won’t release until February 2019. The news comes to us by way of a forum post by the developers.

Path of Exile originally released in 2013 for PC, and it came to Xbox One in August last year. The game is free-to-play, and mainly charges players for cosmetic items, and a few other conveniences.

Have a look at the PS4 announcement trailer below:

Here’s how the developers describe the game:

You are an Exile, struggling to survive on the dark continent of Wraeclast, as you fight to earn power that will allow you to exact your revenge against those who wronged you. Created by hardcore gamers, Path of Exile is an online Action RPG set in a dark fantasy world. With a focus on visceral action combat, powerful items and deep character customization, Path of Exile is completely free and will never be pay-to-win.
