There is concrete evidence of the firm getting its estimates right in the past. So, its data can definitely be considered credible. The same firm has now revealed that Phantom Blade Zero has already sold around 300K copies on Steam. That is a solid achievement and something that should be talked about more, especially because there are still over two months left before the game is released.
The amount of hype this game has been receiving is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. That is something that should not be underestimated. Black Myth: Wukong was in a similar position before its release. That showed just how far games from Chinese studios can’t be underestimated. It also shows that these games can break records that many people may not have expected them to challenge.
The firm also reveals that the game has already generated around $14.5 million from Steam pre-orders alone. The report further highlights that Phantom Blade Zero has crossed 1.6 million wishlists, which is an absurdly high number.
Now, do note that Phantom Blade Zero is being developed by the Chinese studio S-Game. Due to that, you can expect the game to receive a similar level of reception from Chinese fans to what we saw with Black Myth: Wukong. That is not an unrealistic expectation. Although it will still be interesting to see exactly how the game performs once it launches.
Phantom Blade Zero Is Building Toward a Massive Launch
A game selling this many copies before launch is definitely not unheard of. However, this is still a strong indication that Phantom Blade Zero could perform extremely well. The Steam numbers alone could end up surprising a lot of people if sales continue increasing at this pace.
As the release date gets closer, many more people are likely to purchase the game. So, we could see it remain among the top-selling games on Steam for quite some time. Currently, the game is already among the top 50 best sellers on Steam. However, as the launch approaches and more players begin purchasing it, there is a good chance that it will climb even higher in the rankings.
On that note, GTA 6 is not releasing on PC for at least another year. So, there likely won’t be a major effect on Phantom Blade Zero from that side of the market. That said, the hype surrounding GTA 6 is very real as well, which we can clearly see from the enormous amount of attention surrounding the game.
There are also very few major games scheduled to release in November. This could give Phantom Blade Zero an even better opportunity to maintain its momentum after launch.
