Capcom has treated its fans exceptionally well with its recent Resident Evil remakes and, of course, the ninth mainline game in the series, Resident Evil Requiem. The fandom is more satisfied than ever, but many are already anticipating another upcoming banger. Resident Evil Veronica was only recently confirmed, and fans across the Resident Evil community were thrilled by the announcement.
Many fans even called Veronica their favorite reveal of Summer Game Fest and to further prove its popularity, the game has continued climbing the charts ever since its reveal. Resident Evil Veronica has already managed to become the number one game on Steam Wishlist Activity.
Resident Evil Veronica Tops Steam Wishlist Activity Despite Recent and Upcoming Releases
It is worth noting that the game is not scheduled to release until 2027. Because of that, there are plenty of games arriving in the coming months that would normally receive far more attention. However, Veronica has managed to stand above them despite being much farther away from launch.
The announcement was made only recently, which makes its rapid rise in popularity even more impressive. However, it is important to note that being number one on Steam Wishlist Activity does not mean it is currently the most wishlisted game on the platform.
Instead, it means that Resident Evil Veronica has been gaining wishlists at a faster rate than any other game on Steam in recent weeks. In other words, it is currently one of the hottest trending titles on the platform. For reference, the game reportedly gained more than 33,000 wishlists in the last seven days alone.
If we look at the overall wishlist rankings, Resident Evil Veronica currently sits around the twentieth position. Even so, being among the top twenty most wishlisted games on Steam while still being nowhere near release is a remarkable achievement. It is also a strong indication of the excitement surrounding the project.
The Demand For A Veronica Remake Has Been Building For Years
Following the massive success of the Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 remakes, many fans repeatedly asked Capcom to remake Code Veronica. At the same time, rumors from reliable insiders such as Dusk Golem suggested that the project was already in development. Such rumors further increased anticipation within the community.
Capcom was also very strategic with the timing of the reveal. The company had just generated significant excitement among Leon fans with Resident Evil Requiem, and announcing Veronica shortly afterward helped fuel enthusiasm among Claire and Chris Redfield fans as well.
As a result, Capcom has managed to appeal to multiple sections of the Resident Evil fanbase within a short period of time. The publisher clearly understands how to capitalize on the popularity of its iconic characters, which is one of the key reasons why Resident Evil Veronica has been rapidly climbing the Steam Wishlist charts.
