Road To Vostok is a first-person survival shooter where you have to survive in a post-apocalyptic setting. The game feels somewhat similar to Escape from Tarkov and STALKER 2, but at its core it is fundamentally quite different in terms of gameplay structure and overall design philosophy.
It has been on the radar of several streamers due to its unique setting, and also because the fact that only one developer created it is quite impressive. Thanks to that exposure, Road to Vostok gained a decent amount of popularity, and even managed to reach over 8k concurrent players on Steam, which is not bad at all for a single player niche indie game in early access.
A Solid Start In Early Access

It is worth noting that this game is currently in early access, so there could be some issues present as development is still ongoing. However, so far not a single player has reported a truly game breaking glitch or bug, which is a very positive sign for a project of this scale. The reviews are also quite positive overall, although there are still some fair criticisms being discussed within the community.
Since the game is currently in early access, some criticism is expected and completely understandable. Still, if those issues do not bother you too much, then it might definitely be worth giving the game a shot and experiencing what it already offers.
I have also written an article on whether you should buy this game, so do check it out if you want to learn more about Road to Vostok’s pros and cons in greater detail before making a decision.
The shooting feels both fun and realistic, the graphics are good, and performance is outstanding.

The core game loop is addictive, though still rather limited at this stage.
That said, the majority of players have enjoyed the game so far, and the Steam rating is a perfect example of that positive reception and growing player interest.
A Very Positive Rating On Steam

The players on Steam have been very generous with their reviews. The main reason for this is that Road to Vostok is currently in early access, so there is a lot of room for improvement as development continues. That said, even while highlighting many positive aspects of the game, fans have not held back their criticism.
They have shared their fair share of feedback and criticism, which could help shape and improve the game in the near future as updates roll out.
With the right improvements to enemy AI and the progression/quest system — along with additional content such as loot, maps, and gameplay/event variants — it has all the potential to become a truly memorable single‑player experience.
