Spiderweb Software’s Avernum 3: Ruined World releases later this month

Spiderweb Software has announced the release date for its latest game, Avernum 3: Ruined World. Here’s when the isometric RPG is set to launch.

Think indie RPGs and you can’t really ignore the veteran developer Spiderweb Software. Founded in 1994 by Jeff Vogel, the small studio has been quietly churning out some of the most detailed RPGs anywhere. Its latest game, Avernum 3: Ruined World is set to conclude the new trilogy of Avernum games. According to a tweet by Vogel, the game is set to release on 31st January. That is, unless he forgets to press the release button.

As is revealed in the screenshot, the game will be priced at $19.99 and will have a 10% launch discount.

Breaking into Spiderweb’s retro-style RPGs might be intimidating, but according to the developer, no previous experience with the Avernum games is required.

Here’s the description for the game, straight from the devs:

The conclusion to our hit indie fantasy trilogy! Avernum 3: Ruined World is an epic, indie fantasy role-playing adventure with many hours of gameplay. Explore an enormous world that evolves as time passes. Towns are destroyed. Refugees flee. Disasters happen.

Your people long to escape from their underworld prison, but the surface world is being destroyed. Fight plagues of bizarre monsters and win your freedom. Enjoy an intricate tactical battle system with multitudes of abilities, character traits, and unique magical artifacts.

Among the listed features include a gargantuan figure of over 100 towns and dungeons, over a hundred side-quests, a campaign length of about 60 hours, and even the ability to do odd jobs and buy a house.

Avernum 3: Ruined World is set to release on PC and Mac. Here’s the Steam page, and here’s the official website.
