Stardew Valley gets approved for Switch, to get release date soon

Publisher Chucklefish has confirmed that Stardew Valley now has approval to release on the Nintendo Switch. Can you handle farming on the go?

Farming RPG Stardew Valley has been known to scratch that specific Harvest Moon itch, but unlike Harvest Moon, it has not made its way to a Nintendo platform yet. That’s set to change very soon, and you might find yourself playing a farming game outdoors. Can you imagine that? Tending to the crops and not being in your living room or bedroom? I know!

The news comes via Chucklefish’s CEO Finn Brice, who says on his Twitter:

Chucklefish has been known to announce release dates close to the actual launch, which suggests that we might see a Switch release before long.

What is known is that there is a multiplayer mode in the works, which will be deployed in 2018 on all platforms. It will still first arrive on PC, Mac and Linux versions of the game before the console ones. Apart from letting your buddies connect with you online, you will even be able to marry your buddies’ characters in a process that’s just as deep as marrying an NPC.

Stardew Valley originally released on PC in February 2016 before making its way to Linux and Mac in July that year. It arrived on consoles for the first time in December 2016 by releasing on the PS4 and Xbox One.

In Stardew Valley, the protagonist inherits their grandfather’s old farm plot. The game is a farming simulation complete with a social aspect, and apart from raising crops, you can also raise livestock and mine ore.
