Super Meat Boy Forever delayed from April release date

Super Meat Boy Forever is close to completion, but Team Meat has decided to delay it out of April nevertheless. No crunch to be found here, it’s all meat.

Super Meat Boy Forever was slated to launch this month, but developer Team Meat has revealed that this will no longer be happening. The game has now been pushed forward to an unspecified release date.

Why the delay? Because Team Meat is not interested in crunch, and wants to maintain a ‘healthy and sustainable pace’. This refreshing attitude is in stark contrast to reports of crunch from many AAA studios, such as at BioWare (read more about it here on Kotaku’s report on the development of Anthem).

In fact, Team Meat straight up takes a dig at BioWare’s parent corporation EA in their announcement message. Here’s the full message, straight from Team Meat:

Super Meat Boy Forever is expected to launch for PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.

Note that on PC, the game will first launch on Epic Games Store. Before news of the delay, the Steam version was to release in April 2020, suggesting a one-year exclusivity deal with Epic Games Store. Now that we know the game is delayed, it’s safe to assume that the Steam release of the game has been delayed by that much more.

When it actually is out, there will be a ridiculous 7,000 plus levels to slide and jump your way through. It’s a mite more than the 300 plus levels offered in the original Super Meat Boy (to which this game is a sequel).
