2D Platform Shooter Super Mutant Alien Assault Launches Next Week
07 Jul, 2016
Ravage through spaceships and destroy irradiated aliens as a heroic sentry droid in Super Mutant Alien Assault when it launches on 15 July. Or try it now on Early Access!
You may have survived alien assaults in your possibly extensive history of playing video games. You may have even survived mutant alien assaults. But have you ever survived mutant alien assaults in a fashion best described as “super”? Super Mutant Alien Assault is releasing next Friday to deliver exactly that experience.
Super Mutant Alien Assault takes place after the earth has been devastated by an alien attack. The humans that survived escaped in three spaceship fleets, each making its way to a different galaxy to find a habitable planet. The aliens, however, have been tracking the spaceships, and they mount an assault. You’d think this should call for a beefy, gravelly-voiced protagonist to save the day, but our heroes are instead security droids present on the ship.
Super Mutant Alien Assault gives you access to a whole bunch of weapons, which are unlocked over the course of the game. Weapons have limited ammo, so finding new weapons is always a priority. Standing still is also not a good idea, as you have to dodge enemy attacks. The aliens certainly won’t let up: being mutant aliens, they mutate into more powerful forms, making speed particularly critical for your little sentry droid.
You can also rope in a friend to play in local co-op, and interestingly, it features friendly fire as well as shared items and health pack drops. Sounds like the perfect game for making enemies out of perfectly good friends.
Super Mutant Alien Assault is available now on Early Access, but will see its full release next Friday, on 15 July. Apart from Steam, it will also launch on PS4 and Xbox One. It is being developed by one-man-and-his-dog duo Cybernate, while Surprise Attack Games handle publishing duties.
