Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP comes to Switch this week, minus Twitter

Indie classic Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is headed to the Nintendo Switch as early as this month. Features touchscreen support and no more Twitter!

Superbrothers, now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a long, long time. You’d think that the ‘mythopoetical’ adventure of the wandering Scythian was long buried, but it’s re-emerged upon the scent of a new, popular release platform. Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is releasing on Nintendo Switch really soon: on 30th November, to be precise. Here’s the game on Nintendo’s eShop.

Typically, these port announcements are accompanied by bombastic gameplay trailers, but developer Capybara Games has done it a little differently. Here’s a look at the “Another Time of Miracles” video they’re using to promote the game.

The Switch version of the game will support three modes of control. In handheld mode, you can use the multi-touch interface of the Switch screen; while in docked mode you can use the Joy-Cons as wand-like pointers. You can also use a controller.

Apart from controls, the game is almost entirely similar to the original slew of releases from 2011-2012. Almost. Twitter integration won’t be making the cut. Here’s how developer Craig Adams put it in an interview with Polygon:

“But it is the year 2018, and Twitter is a different place than it was … the Switch isn’t as online as the initial platforms for Sword & Sworcery were, so the Switch version of Sworcery does not support Twitter nor does it highlight that aspect of the initial release that Sworcery did.”

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is currently available on iOS, Android, PC, Mac, and Linux. For more information on the game, check out the official website here.

While there’s no game that’s quite like Superbrothers, perhaps you’ll enjoy the darkly comical Little Misfortune. If action is more your thing, consider JackQuest instead.
