Cop management game This is the Police gets a Switch release date
11 Oct, 2017
You have the right to remain silent… and to play This is the Police on the go when it releases on Nintendo Switch later this month.
Developer Weappy has confirmed that This is the Police will launch on the Nintendo Switch later this month. Specifically, it will be available on Nintendo eShop on 24th October and will then be available in retail form on 5th December.
This is the Police puts you in the shoes of police chief Jack Boyd (voiced by Jon St. John, the voice of Duke Nukem) as he struggles to make $500,000 in 180 days. To accomplish this, you will have to manage the Freeburg police and make important decisions that will affect the fate of your city—as well as your own bank balance. Needless to say, compromises may have to be made as you struggle to balance the various powers that control the city. Among the challenges you’ll face are the mafia working in the shadows and a ruthlessly political (and corrupt) mayor. It features a fully-voiced story, stylised graphics, and a slick management interface.

The game was developed by Belarusian studio Weappy and was a Kickstarter success during its campaign run in January 2015. It is presently being published by THQ Nordic. The game holds a 64 rating on OpenCritic, and a 66 on MetaCritic, pointing to a mixed critical reception. User reviews on Steam have given it a ‘Very Positive’ rating, however.
This is the Police originally released on PC, Mac and Linux in October last year before arriving on PS4 and Xbox One this March. Store links for all consoles at the official website.
