Whiskerwood Launched To Over 1500 Concurrent Players on Steam

Whiskerwood another featured

Whiskerwood, a cozy city builder developed by Mianakata Dynamics and published by Hooded Horse, has just been released. The game did not have a massive amount of hype or anticipation, mainly because it is an indie title and has not yet been fully released.

The game is currently in early access, so it is only available on PC. It is therefore not surprising if it does not attract a high player count. Early access games often change significantly when they are officially released, so expect the same for this cozy city builder as well.

A Good Start For An Indie City Builder

The game was just recently released on Steam and briefly surpassed 1,500 concurrent players. Not many people would have heard of it due to a lack of marketing. Additionally, since it is currently in early access, a large player base cannot yet access it.

The numbers it has attracted on Steam are not particularly impressive. However, that should not matter, at least for now. What matters is the experience it delivers, and that seems to be satisfying its audience. The majority of the reviews are positive, with many players praising the game.

Currently, 93 percent of the game’s reviews are positive, which speaks volumes.

Hands down, a top tier colony sim. Mixes some of the best features of titles such as Timberborn (3D building and terraforming) or Against the Storm (procedural maps, random events and an impatient crown). If you’re a fan of either game, this is a must check.

There are even people claiming that they have spent tens or even hundreds of hours playing the demo alone. Demos are not usually highly optimized, but this shows how much the fandom enjoys this particular title. Of course, the full game has many improvements over the demo, so fans are clearly enjoying the experience even more. There is a reason why over 93 percent of the reviews are positive.

I’ve been waiting for this game for months now! I’ve played the *Meow* out of the Demo and had so much fun!
Finally being able to play the “full” release with sooo much more to do is just awesome!

Whiskerwood Will Only Get Better

Whiskerwood Featured

As the game is in early access, it has the potential to get even better. Some concerns have been raised by the fandom, and the developer is likely to address them soon, as there is not much wrong with Whiskerwood. The main concern relates to pacing, which I personally agree with.

Some fans have noted that the pacing feels a bit off. The never-ending loop of receiving gifts, which could simply be collected as taxes in a few days, takes away some of the fun. For now, the developer has not revealed which platforms the game will release on in the future or when early access will end. Whiskerwood is currently on sale on Steam, and the promotion ends on November 20.
