Zelda meets Stardew Valley as Yonder gets a new ‘Coming Soon’ trailer
29 Jun, 2017
The newest trailer for non-violent exploration game Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles shows us the island of Gemea, and the things you’ll do while on it.
Developer Prideful Sloth has released yet another trailer for Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles, although this time it’s not a fleeting glance at a biome. Instead, we get a long and proper look at the island of Gemea and some of the exploration you’ll be doing in it.
The trailer is narrated by the protagonist’s mother, who gives you the low down on what to do on the island. Meanwhile, our protagonist goes about chopping wood, making friends, exploring icy caverns and using an umbrella to descend from a height. Didn’t think of that, didja Link?
Yonder is notably a non-violent adventure at heart and has you doing all the things you saw above, as well as activities like farming, crafting, cooking, fishing and brewing, which might remind you less of Zelda and more of Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon. And the running, oh the running: so much running around. You’ll make friends with both the locals and the animals of Gemea and the animals all have ridiculously adorable names like Fluffcubs.
As the trailer shows, there is a nasty murk that’s taking over the island, and your mum thinks you’re going to do a good job taking it out (thanks Mum). It should be novel to not fight darkness by swinging a sword about, so that’s fresh.
The developer of the game is the Australian studio Prideful Sloth, which has got a bunch of folks in it who previously worked on Batman: Arkham games.
Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles is indeed ‘coming soon’, and it releases on July 18th for PC (Steam) and PS4. Have a look at our past coverage of the game for more trailers.
