Indie Game Releases of the Week: 12th to 18th October 2020

This week in indie games, we have the management game Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?!, revolution sim Mesmer, party game Cake Bash, and more.

Can you imagine we’re only a month out from a new generation of video game consoles? It’s been 84 years. Before they’re out, though, you can get your hands on these indie games that are coming out this week. We have such a massive number of games coming out this particular week that we’ve had to shuffle our format a bit.

Check out our featured indie picks below, and then all the newness you should be checking out below that. Also have a look at the ports section, where you’ll find ports of such games as Cloudpunk (our review) and Röki (our review)!

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?!

14th October on PC, Mac, Xbox One, Switch

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! is a management game in which you must cook, serve, and… delicious? No, you must manage a food truck in a future, war-torn America as you try to get to a food truck championship. You can play it both solo and in local co-op.

Vigil: The Longest Night is an action platformer with precise and difficult combat, set in a fantasy world of eldritch horrors that fuses Lovecraftian style with Taiwanese culture. It’s inspired by Salt and Sanctuary, as well as Castlevania.

The Signifier

15th October on PC

The Signifier is a sci-fi thriller adventure game in which you play as an AI and psychology researcher attempting to solve a murder mystery. As you solve puzzles in objective and subjective mindscapes, you must also navigate real-world intrigue.

Cake Bash

15th October on PC, PS4, Xbox One

Cake Bash is a 4-player party game with a rather sweet theme. You play as a cake, and once you’re tossed into the arena, you must fulfil the goals set before you to defeat the other cakes. Being delicious is apparently quite demanding.

Crown Trick

16th October on PC, Switch

Crown Trick is a rogue-lite RPG with turn-based combat, set in a labyrinth that moves as you move. You must master the elements, learn skills from your enemies, and battle through a new maze each time you dive into the dungeon.

Mesmer indie game screenshot

16th October on PC

Mesmer is a ‘revolution simulator’ from the developers of Teslagrad, in which you play as a revolution leader stirring up an uprising while also keeping clear of the secret police. It’s open world, but with a strong narrative backbone in its spine. I predict a riot.
