Indie Game Releases of the Week: April 12 to 18, 2021

This week in indie games, we have the drencher Rain on Your Parade, platformer Tasomachi, Web 2.0 adventure Emily is Away <3, and more.

This week’s selection of indie games includes a road trip, supernatural mysteries, a naughty rain cloud, a girl determined to fix her airship, and the experience of using a certain social media website in 2008. The spread of developers ranges all the way from the US to Japan to India to Ireland, making this a truly global line-up.

Below that, check out the other original indie releases this week, including moody survival adventure Ashwalkers and party game Knight Squad 2.

We’ve also got a line-up of ports below that, including The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa and Super Meat Boy Forever.

Tasomachi: Behind the Twilight is a game of exploration and platforming in which you play as young Yukumo, who must repair her world-faring airship by exploring a mysterious town. Apart from exploring the Eastern-inspired town on foot, you can also hop into your airship (once it’s fixed) and fly around. Besides that, there’s 3D platforming challenges to overcome and outfits to discover.

Rain on Your Parade is a slapstick comedy game about a particularly mischievous raincloud that’s travelling the world and ruining the day of literally everyone it encounters. You can customise your cloud and unlock new mechanics and themes (including raining meteors on dinosaurs and what looks like a send-up to Metal Gear Solid).

The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark

The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark is a point-and-click adventure that’s heavy on the pixel art as well as on the supernatural. Emily is Away <3

Emily is Away <3 is a narrative adventure game and the third game in the Emily is Away series. While previous entries were set in the early-to-mid-2000s, this one is set in 2008, when AIM is dead and everyone’s using this this thing called… let me check… ‘Facenook’. As you sign up for an account of your own during your senior year, you will make choices by way of your social media choices and conversations, and make or break friendships.
