Indie Game Releases of the Week: April 19 to 25, 2021

This week in indie games, we have the hack-and-slash Battle Axe, puzzle game World Splitter, jazz-punk adventure Don’t Forget Me, and more.

Our featured indie games this week range from cyberpunk psychological explorations to puzzle games and pixel-art hack-and-slash. We also have a turnip committing tax evasion, but don’t tell anybody.

Below, we’ve also got a range of original indie releases listed out, including management puzzle game Buildings Have Feelings Too!, VR adventure Maskmaker, and action-platformer Smelter.

And finally, our scouting of ports for the week include ScourgeBringer on PlayStation and the wider releases of Moon Raider and The Skylia Prophecy.

Don’t Forget Me

Don’t Forget Me is a cyberpunk adventure game with modern puzzle elements, in which you play as an amnesiac starting anew at a memory manipulation clinic. You’ll be diving into patients’ minds in this retro-futuristic world, and uncovering memories – both your patients’, and your own.

Silicon Dreams

Silicon Dreams is a cyberpunk interrogation game in which you play as an android tasked with rooting out other, deviant androids. Set in a dystopian future controlled by corporations, you must learn about your subjects, monitor their emotions, choose the right approach, and eventually, pick the right side in a brewing conflict.

World Splitter

April 21 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch

World Splitter is a “2D² puzzle platformer”, combining jumping and running elements from platforming with logic puzzles. Each level contains two worlds divided by a dimensional rift, and you can interact only with the visible part of each world.

Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion

Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion is an action-adventure game with a very self-explanatory premise, where you are evicted from your home for tax evasion, and must quest to pay back your dept to the mayor, an onion. Along the way, you will fight animals, solve puzzles, grow and harvest plants, and ultimately, destroy the vegetable government.

Battle Axe

Battle Axe is a top-down hack-and-slash game inspired by action-adventure games of the 80s and 90s. You may pick one of three heroes – an Elf, a Druid, or a Marauder, in your quest to defeat a despotic sorceress. You must fight her minions and the bosses under her command, gathering gold along the way and upgrading your abilities and gear. The game features both solo and local co-op play.
