Not For Broadcast to release in Early Access next month; prologue out now

Not For Broadcast will be fit for broadcast in January 2020, but you can already get to censoring TV news by checking out the free prologue.

Not For Broadcast was announced alongside a slew of new games from publisher TinyBuild, back in August this year. Although we expected the game to have hit Early Access by now, it would seem that the game was… (drum roll please, and thank you) not for broadcast just yet. That’s no matter, because the game will enter Early Access on 30th January 2020, on PC via Steam.

You don’t need to wait that long to get your kicks censoring TV news and spreading propaganda, though. The game also has a free prologue chapter that is available right this instant on Steam.

There’s no better way to get a taste of this innovative game than to play it, but have a look at the trailer below:

Here’s what the game is about, and how it works:

In an alternate 1980s where the nation stumbles towards dystopia, join the National Nightly News team as they document the latest political scandal, the rise of a radical government, and which celebrity has for some reason written a book about it all.

You only came in to clean the studio – but in a bizarre twist of fate, it’s now up to you to determine exactly what goes on air.

Not For Broadcast is an immersive, narrative-driven propaganda sim that lets you set the agenda. Mix four camera feeds, choose the headlines, bleep the bad language – all under the pressure of a live broadcast. Will you censor the news and be rewarded, or expose the truth and live with the consequences?

When the game launches in Early Access next month, it will come with three chapters that will be slowly expanded to ten chapters before the game is formally out. As the game makes heavy use of full motion video, it’s going to take some time to be done. Developer NotGames estimates that might even take 18 months.

Of course, you can help them out by playing the game while it’s in Early Access.
